The United Nations Global Compact initiative, which began in 2000, aims to develop ten universal principles covering human rights, labour standards, environment and corruption by bringing together the United Nations regional offices, labour organizations, non-governmental organizations and governments with business. With the power of this joint movement, the Global Compact aims to expand the ten principles in business circles around the world and launch practices that support the United Nations broad goals. This is the world's largest voluntary corporate citizenship initiative, with more than 3000 participating companies from more than 100 countries.
